A Case of Placenta Site Trophoblastic Tumor (PSTT)

Abstract
Placenta site trophoblastic tumor is very rare disease. March and (1895) and Ewing (1910) recognized an atypical from of choriocarcinoma which differed both clinically and morphologically from usual type, the histological land ultrastructual
appearances
and the relatively low levels of hCG secretion. All point to an origin in the interstitial trophoblast, on contrast with choriocarcinoma which is derived from the placental villous trophoblast. It may ocdur at any age during the reproductive
period
,
but it usually occurs in relation to second or subsequent pregnances rather than primipara.
Significant uterine hemorrhage related to defined previous pregnancy is the commonest mode of presentation. Now it was known to has a malignant characteristics due to its metastatic feature. The treatment of choice is surgical removal of the
tumor,
but
in many case, tentative recomendations for management of the patient are warrented because of the limited knowledge of the behavior of the PSTT.
We present a case of placenta site trophoblastic tumor associated with ascites and peritonitis also with brief review of literatures.
